Finding us

Where can we find you?

Our office address is:
Gateway House, 59  Clarendon Road, Watford, Hertfordshire WD17 1LA

Gateway House is the building known for being the home of Watford Community Housing Trust.  Here is a link to view our location on Google Maps

What and where is the nearest mainline railway station?

Watford Junction Station is the nearest station.  The station is located at one end of Clarendon Road Station and is a 4-5 minute walk away.

Where is the nearest underground station?

The nearest underground station is ‘Watford’, which is on the Metropolitan line.  The station is some distance away and is approximately a 20-25 minute walk through Watford Town Centre.  If you are not sure of the route, or have mobility issues, we suggest a taxi is taken.   A taxi rank and taxi office is located outside the station.

What bus routes is your office on?

Our building is on the main bus route from Watford Town Centre to North Watford, Garston, St Albans.   Please call Travelline 0871 2002233 to help you, but buses W1, 10, W30, 302, 321 amongst others pass the building.  Although there are request bus stops nearby in both directions, the nearest main stop will be Watford Junction Station.

Where is your office compared to Watford Town Centre?

We have already mentioned that at one end of Clarendon Road is Watford Junction, the other end of Clarendon Road joins Watford High Street (a walk of about 8-9 minutes). Clarendon Road is a left-hand turning off Beecham Grove which is part of the one way system that surrounds the town centre.

What is the nearest landmark?

We are on the corner of St John’s Road where a set of traffic lights is situated, although St John’s Road is between us, the next building to us is the Magistrates Court and the Police Station.

Accessible parking/disabled parking bays

There are a couple of disabled parking bays in the car park and St John’s Road to the side of the building where Blue Badge holders can park free of charge in the Pay and Display bays.

Accessibility of the building

There is a wheelchair ramp at the front of the building but the ramp is split into 2 smaller ramps making the user have to turn at the top of one section to go up the second.

Then, inside the building, there is a small wheelchair lift to take you up a couple of feet to the reception area.

The Disability Watford office is behind the reception desk on the ground floor. There is an accessible/disabled toilet near our office and others in the building on the other floors.

For those who cannot use the wheelchair ramp at the front of the building, then beyond the parking barrier at the side of the building and at the rear of the Gateway House building is a second good accessible ramp.

Therefore we suggest that some in wheelchairs should call DW ahead or call the reception at Watford Community Housing to gain access to this ramp at the back of the building as it is an easier ramp to use.
