Disability Watford at Herts Pride 2025

Leigh, Brian, Jill and Quiz at Herts Pride 2025

The annual Herts Pride event took place on Saturday 30th August in Cassiobury Park, Watford.  This event celebrates diversity in our community, welcoming people of all races, faiths, abilities, sexualities, and genders, with this year’s theme being ‘Connections’.  The Herts Pride core message of inclusion is of course one that Disability Watford shares, and this annual celebration is a key date in the charity’s event calendar.

Disability Watford was able to secure a stall in the Health & Wellbeing Marquee at the event and we had a constant stream of visitors dropping by to chat with the Chair Leigh Hutchings, and fellow trustee Brian Turner, assisted by Disability Watford supporters Jill and Nancy.  Events like these are always valuable for raising awareness of Disability Watford’s campaigning work and services, and enlisting new supporters.   It also provided ample opportunities to catchup and network with local / charity / disability groups.

A key member of our group, Quiz the guide dog, was a memorable contributor to the day’s success.  Quiz was on hand to help distract / entertain our visitors.  Not only did Quiz amass adoring fans wherever she went, with Jill’s expert assistance, she also impressed the judge of the ever-popular Herts Pride Dog Show and went on to win one of the several hotly contested rounds of the competition – that is three years in a row that our Quiz has been a winner!  So all in all, a fun, productive event that the Disability Watford team were proud to participate in, and we are already looking forward to Herts Pride 2026!
